A Gift

I first attended Bastyr University's Annual Herb & Food Fair in 2006. I sampled wheat free cookies, soaked my feet in a yummy smelling herb potion and perused the book store.
While flipping through the pages of a two-inch-thick cook book, I chatted with a student volunteer, "Mary", who was in her final year of the Nutrition program.

Mary mentioned she was saving for that cook book. I got that intuitive tingle to buy it for her. She was shocked and stuttered "What's this for?" Happy Birthday I told her. "How did you know it was my birthday tomorrow?" I laughed and said enjoy it, and then wandered off to eat more cookies.

Kindness

I asked a customer service representative how her day was faring. She told me I was the first person ever to inquire about her well being during her eight years on the job.

I'm sure others have asked. For some unknown reason, today was the day she needed kindness and attention. It's nice when we can make someone smile or warm a heart.

Sweet Cheeks

My sister, the social worker, works with at risk elementary students. She's quite patient and loving, but firm when needed. She told me about one of her students whom she affectionately calls Sweet Cheeks. He's eight and a handful.

Sweet Cheeks loves attention and can't sit still which probably describes most students. Sissie and I were chatting about his issues. We discussed ways to motivate and reward him. I received a message from spirit about his passion and admiration for the actor Will Smith.

I found a Will Smith biography and wrapped it in snowman paper. I gave it to my sister for Christmas. She in turn gifted it to Sweet Cheeks who jumped up and down and said, "He's my favorite, how did you know?"

Lost and Then Found

On my way to the gym when I realized I'd forgotten my Eco-friendly water bottle. Decision time: add to the Earth's carbon footprint and drive home or suffer judgements about my plastic bottle consumption. Hey, I recycle and drive a Prius. I bought bottled water.

Purchase in hand, I navigated my hybrid to the gym. Just then I received an intuitive message, you know a thought not my own, to turn right at the next intersection. So I turned and saw a petite woman in a stylish white coat standing in the middle of the street. Her eyes pleaded for help. All the known scenarios flashed through my head and I stopped anyway.

"Do you know where the Unitarian Church is? "I've tried following these directions and they don't make sense."

I looked at my watch, it was 10:55AM. Now I understood the situation, church started in five minutes.

"Get in your car and follow me," I commanded.

White coat woman followed me ten blocks to the church. She waved. I smiled and waved back knowing that her map questing had ended while another had begun...finding a parking space.

What do the wise ones say about the voices we hear? There's a loud voice and a quiet one. The loud voice is the mind, the mental chatter, the ego. The quiet voice emanates from the soul and from spirit. This voice can guide you if you choose to listen. Imagine the blessings that occur just by accepting and acting on the messages.

Economic Crisis or Opportunity?

Here's a thought....turn off your TV and focus on something other than the economic crisis. Take an internal audit of your life just as it is right now. What's working and what needs adjusting?

If money is energy-how's your energy? Is it flowing or hitting speed bumps? Can you identify abundance in forms other than money?
